SAMAB – Fashion Technologies Event: Technology, innovation and sustainability at the heart of the fashion system. See you in 2027.

Three days dedicated to technological innovation, sustainability, and new skills for fashion manufacturing: over 3,000 industry professionals in attendance, 21 international buyers, more than 50 high-level conferences, and cutting-edge technologies – all contributing to an event poised to become a key biennial reference for the sector.

The first edition of SAMAB – Fashion Technologies Event, the international event dedicated to innovation in machinery and equipment for apparel manufacturing, ends today with a highly positive outcome.

Held at Superstudio Maxi in Milan, SAMAB welcomed over 3,000 fashion industry professionals, more than 70 exhibiting companies, 21 international buyers from 25 countries, and a packed schedule featuring over 50 events, including conferences, workshops, and technical demonstrations. Organized by Senaf, in collaboration with Tecniche Nuove Group and with Technofashion magazine as media partner, SAMAB was held under the patronage of ANTIA, Confindustria Moda – Textile and Fashion Federation, and IACDE. From its debut, the event established itself as a new reference point for the entire fashion production supply chain, becoming a catalyst for ideas, networking, and practical solutions.

“With SAMAB, we created a tangible platform to support the transformation of fashion manufacturing,” stated Ivo A. Nardella, President of Tecniche Nuove Group and Senaf. “The remarkable participation and engagement of industry stakeholders confirm the need for a place where technology, vision, expertise, and emerging skills come together to drive change. From day one, we expressed the desire to continue this journey biennially: the next edition is already scheduled for May 2027, with the goal of further expanding the dialogue and impact across the entire fashion ecosystem.”

Throughout the three-day event, SAMAB addressed key topics driving transformation in the sector: digitalization, generative artificial intelligence, circular economy, 3D printing, automation, traceability, and technical training.

Conferences such as “Data, Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence as Drivers of Innovation” and “Textile Innovation: The 3D Printing Revolution for Customization and Sustainability” offered concrete insights through real-world case studies from major international groups. 3D printing emerged as a powerful tool for both efficiency and garment personalization, while artificial intelligence was also discussed in terms of its ethical governance, with frameworks for responsible and conscious adoption.

The closing day, Thursday, May 29, offered a moment of reflection and forward-looking perspective for the industry. Among the standout sessions, the conference “Technologies for Circular Fashion: Challenges of Waste Recovery and Recycling, and the Role of Technology and Research” focused on sustainable manufacturing transformation, highlighting the importance of research, advanced craftsmanship, and digital innovation. Topics also included Industry 5.0 and the synergy between technology and traditional know-how, with companies presenting real-life applications of innovative solutions in their production processes.

Key industry stakeholders – from associations to businesses, trainers to buyers – came together to discuss how best to navigate the current transition phase of the textile and apparel industry. Despite facing economic challenges, the sector demonstrated resilience and forward planning, as emphasized by the contributions of Confindustria Moda, Assolombarda, Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda ETS, and IACDE Italia.

SAMAB has proven to be a strategic platform for future skills development, for bridging qualified supply and demand, and for showcasing Italian excellence in a global context. With SAMAB, Milan confirms its role as a capital of innovation for the fashion supply chain. The event, which will take place every two years, will return in May 2027, continuing its mission to support the technological, sustainable, and competitive transition of the European fashion system.
